The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Lipfendra (generic name: enlicitide) as the first oral PCSK9 inhibitor. It is indicated for adults with hypercholesterolemia (including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia – HeFH) as an adjunct to diet and exercise. Unlike existing injectable PCSK9 inhibitors, this medication is taken orally.
