Hi there! How can we help you today?

Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG)
Accurate, noninvasive assessment of your heart health in under 10 minutes
Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) at Delban Advanced Cardiovascular Clinic

An electrocardiogram, or ECG/EKG, is one of the most fundamental, fastest, and safest diagnostic tools in cardiology. This simple, painless test records the electrical activity of the heart, providing a valuable window into the health of this vital organ and allowing the physician to quickly evaluate essential information about your heart rhythm, structure, and function.
At Delban Advanced Cardiovascular Clinic, this service is provided with high precision and expertise under the direct supervision of Dr. Seyed Mohsen Jahromi-Moghadam, a specialist in non-surgical cardiovascular procedures. Advanced equipment and expert ECG interpretation at this center ensure an accurate baseline diagnosis for effective treatment planning.
What exactly does an ECG do?
Your heart is a muscular pump that contracts through regular electrical impulses. An ECG records these electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the skin of the chest, arms, and legs. The output is a line tracing that shows the heart's electrical waves. By analyzing the shape, height, intervals, and rhythm of these waves, the physician can obtain information about:
- Heart rhythm: Diagnosis of arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, and bradycardia.
- Heart structure: Identification of possible signs of chamber enlargement (hypertrophy) or wall thickening.
- Blood flow to the heart muscle: Detection of ischemia, which may indicate narrowing of the coronary arteries.
- Previous or ongoing heart attack: Identification of specific patterns that suggest heart tissue injury (myocardial infarction).
- Effectiveness of medications or devices: Assessment of cardiac medications or devices such as a pacemaker.

When is an ECG necessary?
Your physician may recommend an ECG in the following situations:
- Feeling palpitations, dizziness, or fainting (syncope)
- Chest pain, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue
- Cardiac assessment before surgical procedures
- Family history of heart disease or sudden cardiac death
- Follow-up of known heart disease treatment
- As part of a comprehensive cardiovascular check-up, especially for people over 40 or those with risk factors (hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking)
How an ECG is performed at Delban Clinic
This process is completely safe, quick, and painless:
- You lie on your back on the examination bed.
- An experienced technician cleans specific areas on your chest, wrists, and ankles and attaches small electrodes.
- While you remain calm and still, the ECG machine records your heart's electrical activity for about 5 to 10 minutes.
- At the end, the electrodes are removed and you can immediately resume your normal activities.

Expert interpretation: The recorded ECG is immediately reviewed and interpreted by Dr. Jahromi-Moghadam or the clinic's cardiologist. The result and the necessary explanations are provided during the same visit or as soon as possible, and if needed, the next steps (such as echocardiography, exercise stress testing, or angiography) are planned.
